If you yank the tubes you'll cause excessive bleeding. What we do here in Hawaii is to make a slit and then squeeze an eggo out and cut off the cartilage connected to the nut and then scrape a sharp knife against the tube until it comes free and then make slit on other side and repeat. I have seen a few guys slap some vaseline on the cut but on most occasions it's just a slap on the butt and it's on its way!
