Without any question, my old Dixie female. I have seen this dog do things I have never seen another dog do. I have hunted her in front of and behind other "good" dogs and her find hogs they didn't even know were in the woods, and do it on a regular basis. She could wind off the truck, you could put her on a track, or free cast her and she would do all three equally well. Never barked at anything but a hog, handled better than any dog I have ever seen, very intelligent and just knew more about hogs than I ever will. Plus, she would catch when the catch dog got there.
As I hunted her by herself 99% of the time, she learned how much pressure to apply when bayed, to keep that hog (s) bayed. Some hogs required more pressure, some less and she always seemed to know how much pressure to apply.
She had an uncanny knack at keeping the hogs attention. I have never seen another dog that controlled the hog like she did. Hard to explain but awesome to watch.
We averaged baying/catching/cutting 100-150 BOAR hogs (not counting sows, shoats or barrs) per year with her for about 7 years. Thats a lot of hogs.
Some of the guys I hunted with used to joke I could take her to central park in New York city and she would bay a hog "somewhere". She just always seemed to find and bay a hog when other dogs failed.
I could write a book on this dog, but most people wouldn't believe it. I just feel fortunate that I was able to own and hunt her, so I know what a REAL good dog is.
