The shot is lutalyse and you give it within 72 hours of when the deed was done. Almost instantly, the dog will start getting uncomfortably hot, panting, and possibly whining within a few hours. It causes cramps but is pretty good at terminating the pregnancy. Some vets won't do it because it is kind of hard on the dog. I question if it is not as hard as whelping and raising puppies. I know that I would get the shot if there was any questions - especially if the dog really needs to be in the woods hunting and not laid up bred.

I knew thats what they used on cattle, but didn't know they used it on dogs to. Thats some potent stuff. I was told back in H.S. not to get it on your hands cause it would make you sterile(sp) for a while.
