I just have regular 4' horse fence(2"x4"), actually an old stud pen. Good hot wire top and bottom. I have to "break in" new dogs sometimes, especially fence climbers. I usually put a training collar on and hit em hard when they try the fence. One or two times of that, not to mention the fence hittin' them and they won't go 10' from the fence.
Eventually I'd like to make a pen out of 6' chain link with the angled "security" tops angled in all the way around. Again, with hotwire top and bottom. The hotwire pretty much eliminates any attempt to dig under, but I'd like to pour a thin vertical footer all the way around all the same.
All my dogs live together like this, even the catch dogs(no intact males). They sure thrive in this "open" living arrangement, but it is certainly a liability if not contained properly.
