I think a lot of it has to do with certain people look at their dogs differently. Personally i think b/c i raise and become close to my dogs i want to be there if something happens. Its not about not trusting as much as just wanting to be there more than anything. I look at my dogs, even though they might not be "the best dogs" out there as IRREPLACEABLE. I know a lot of people that hunt dogs look at them as just "tools" like a gun or boat or deer stand and a lot of people look at them as members of the family. I agree with the latter and frown upon loaning them out as such. I PERSONALLY would never ask to borrow anyones dog just like i dont like borrowing ANYTHING that i can not replace if i break it or it dies on my watch. If i have the cash in hand to replace a material item (ie.boat, gun) then i feel it's ok to borrow it but it's obvious that a dead dog cannot be replaced so i stay away from that all together. In the end it boils down to everyone looking at things differently and that should be respected by everyone else. good thread
