i always just put mine on the chain and let them fight it in an hr or so they learn the chain isnt going to give up so they finally give in...just make sure they cant get tangled around anything so that they strangle themselves ahd a buddy do that with a high dollar lab pup her feet could touch the ground but she had wrapped herself so tight that she choked herself down
