Only one of my dogs nuts was swollen. The vet I use did not do any special test. But I was told that the swollen testicle was a pretty definitive sign of brucellosis, as there is not much else that can cause that. Other than having a swollen testicle though my dog did not show any other symptoms and acted completely healthy, ate and drank regularly, stool looked regular, acted full of energy. I asked the vet and he gave me his approval so I started hunting him again regularly after the swelling went down some, about 2 weeks after treatment started.
Yes, Mike is right people can get it, but it is pretty rare I think for you to get it from another species. My dog looks a lot better now and I hope it does not come back again and again like what Mike said cuz then I would have to neuter him too.
