rinsing the slime does not work. It is algae and it grows fast. Clean the tubs the best you can, I mean real clean and then clean them with bleach to kill what you can't see. If you are hauling the water do the same to what you carry the water in. Anything that gets light. Algae needs light to grow. You can clean on a regular basis with Listerine it will keep it under control and is safer than bleach. Make sure you rinse the bleach out and let it dry before putting drinking water in it. Bleach is not good for dogs but it kills algae fast. But if there is any algae left it will come back fast.
