This reminds me we had a closer call this weekend too.  My buddies girlfriend was hunting with us and climbed over a branch and then one of us was going to do the same thing when we saw the snake.  It was a copper head that was laying right on that branch.  She had just straddled that a second earlier too ....She got really lucky and so did we that we saw it and did not try our luck a second time.
