I have had several good dogs and some I considered very good. But I had one that I raised in my back yard that was born great. At 8 weeks he was winding for treats as were the littermates but when I started running drags he led the pups around and he made it look easy. Before 12 weeks of age he could run a drag that had loops and figure eights. I quit running drags when he even followed a double back track that I finished in a 5 gallon bucket.

He was striking hogs before 6 months of age and at 1 year of age could hunt with the best. I could write a book on this dog. I have had some real good dogs but none like yeller. He just knew where to find a hog and quick. When I dropped the tailgate he would make a quick round and if he came back within 5 minutes or so you might as well load up and move on because there wouldn't be any hogs in the vicinity.

Training dogs is not about quantity, it's more about timing, the right situations, and proper guidance...After that it's up to the dog...
A hunting dog is born not made...
