I know you know this put sometimes if I leave I will put down some of my clothes or a sweaty horse blanket so when the dog tracks back he will stay. I have left dogs alot and it works great sometimes if they track a mile or 2 away I will keep hunting and leave a article down and 90 0/0 of the time they are on it or close.I'm like you west texas if it leaves my truck its collared. When you get those rangy dogs back trade one for a tracking system or sell one and buy one my dogs pay for themselves one way or another maybe even through hog sales let that be your dog fund and don't tell your wife.If you have a trailer leave it it will work also or get some dogs use the wind go out there leave them tyed get a small pig maybe it will pull those dogs just some dumb suggestions. I have even had to dart a dog to catch it one that I was feeding and he would find you a hog he just didn't want you to touch him anyway good luck.
