My AB gyp was 2 1/2 years old when I got her. She'd never seen a hog...took her to get her first look, and she damn near pulled my arm out of socket trying to get to the hog.  Needless to say she caught that one. Didn't have to learn what a bay was either. Dogs were barking and she told me in no uncertain terms, she wanted to go. Point is, a mature bulldog should figure out what to do quick, fast and in a hurry.
