Her name was Lacee. I got her by accident. Was walking around a rodeo and saw a guy with the prettiest blue puppy that I had ever laid eyes on. We got to bs'ing and he mentioned that he had that pup and his full sister there for a buddy of his who had decided that he didn't want the pups and he jokingly (I thought) said that his mom was gonna shoot him if he brought the pups home so I laughed and teased him bout me already having 4 dogs, 3 horses, a goat, and a few feral cats, so I didn't see how two more pups would hurt... Wwweeelllll, 45 mins later I got back to my truck, and there were two pups in the bed, the guy's rig was nowhere in sight... Well long story short, the blue pup died, and Lacee became my lil girl. She actually saved me from lord knows what one time at a truck stop when a truck driver tried to corner me while I was lettin her pee, I bet the scars on his calf make him think before putting his hands on a chick holding a cur dog's lease again... I let a buddy borrow her as a 2 year old to use as a bay dog for one hunt, and she never came home. He said that she was the most natural bay dog he had ever seen. She had no quit, and if you didn't get there fast enough, she didn't mind putting her teeth on one, so he ran a vest on her. They got on a big ole sow that wouldn't stop running and Lacee kept after her, even after the other 6 bay dogs gave up and laid down. She literally ran until her heart burst, and when I found out she had died, well, my own heart shattered. It might be just a girl thing, but he searched until he found her, took the vest off her, and left her laying. I was, and still am TICKED.. I begged him to tell me where she was so that I could go get her and bury her, and he told me he couldn't even remember where she was....
