I would say BS, how ever. I have a friend who was involved with a k9 company working on a contract with the government studying a dogs cold trailing abilities and this is what he learned. Dogs trail sent left from the constant shedding of skin rafts and ground disturbances . This is not new info The new info is this. This scent goes through chemical changes starting as soon as they are shed. By the 24 hour mark what remains post chemical change no longer smells the same. dogs don't recognize what remains on their own. What remains does not change any further for a very long time. Trained to follow the broken down (chemically) scent is another story. This friend of mine was running tracks that where 4-5 days old through down town San Antonio.
