Terry it is not to late to file charges against the man. Even though it is a criminal offense you can file a small claim against him for up to $5000/ He just may be dumb enough to admit it and he will be liable both ways Cival and Criminal but I would definately call the sheriff an make a claim. If you have any witnesses you may be in business

X2 Don't say anything to the sherriff about it being illegal to shoot a dog. You never know if they are in the same good ol boy network. Just simply state that the man shot your dog. You might get lucky and the man may be cocky enough to admit it. If he does admit he shot the dog just because it crossed the fence, the leo will document it and then you may have something to work with. JMO
