My dog Lula is both microchipped and spayed. But who am I to judge others? I've been to the county animal control pounds of Jefferson, Liberty and San Jac counties looking for Lula at different times after her epic hunts which she initiates. They have microchip readers there and can scan her and find my name and phone number, as do most vets. I know it works because I've paid the $30 to get her back home before. If you see Lula, she'll wag her tail and walk right up to you. She'll try and come into your home and sit on your sofa. This is what a guy told me after I found her after 3 days hanging out next to his trailer. I found ketchup packages in her stool. The Cleveland pound was just up the road.
Someone posted that they were interested in a good yellow BMC. There were two in the San Jac County pound (Shepard, Tx) when I visited there about the middle of December. One was 90-100 lb dog. (If the guy that runs the place is not there, just stand in the back your truck and look over the fence to see them. The place in next to the country compactor yard.)
On the other hand, if you find my BMCs on the side of the road, and I don't think you will, please leave them there. They won't come to you, they are microchipped, they are waiting for me, and I'll be back to get him.
One other note. There was a guy recently in mid-Jefferson county had gone into his own animal control business. He'd drive around picking up strays that had IDs then call the owner and extort money. Hope he doesn't have a chip reader. I don't want to pay for community services that already exist and were established and are supported by community legislation.
Why wounld'nt you put a collar with a name plate on your dog! There are deer lease around here that say if it is not a collared dog then shoot it! If your dog is in the media of 59 I will leave it and I will asure you I can catch your dog!LOL I have been hunting along time and know when a dog is lost and have had many thanks from coon hunters and hog hunters for picking there dogs up and safely returning them I would hope someone would do it for me! Now that there is tracking systems most of that has stopped!
