If a dog is going to hunt big where there is no sign he will do it in the first couple hunts after the pup learns to cross creeks and fences. I have had 3 month old puppies that would take off and not come back you go find them because they have that much hunt in them. If you just want to put the pup on hogs and expect him to stay on a track and get bayed somewhere you might have to give it 3 years and it might still not do anything. I like rangy dogs and if they don't hunt where their is no fresh hog sign in the first few hunts they are gone.
