try Vetericyn seems to work well as long as the dog can't just lick it off. You can even use it in their eyes

Vetericyn is expensive but you know where your money went by how well is works.  The combo of hydrotherapy, betadine, and vetericyn works wonders on deep cuts and pokes.  Can't remember the last time I need antibiotics for a cut or poke.
