You just have to set up and run it like a business. I am not a CPA yet but if you ask a CPA that does tax they will tell you. You can also go in to your local IRS office let them know you "want to make sure you keep track of everything to pay all the taxes you should." I guarantee they will be real nice. They helped me lower my taxes when I just said "I want to make sure I am paying all the taxes I owe." It is cheaper that way. But if you already work with a CPA they can tell you too. You need to track income and expenses on some kind of records. Please do not just throw receipts in a box but even that is better than nothing.
