I have expanded metal floors in my kennels and used 1" holes. I would suggest a little bigger hole i stil have to scoop my kennels. I wouldnt suggest anymore than 1 & 1/2 a buddy of mine uses that size and it is next to perfect if a toe goes through it they can get it back out. After mine have been in use awhile I have seen a couple things im goin to change to my floor. I'm goin to put a foot or so of matting down right in front of the doors so when they go to jump down they dont catch their toes. Thats my 2 cents worth. If you could find a picture of the plastic floor id like to see it I may change to it, thanks.
