I have cousins that rasie them in Florida they switched to them because the pit got banned in there area. He's had then for 10yrs now and swears that they will catch hogs. When I went for a visit I was impressed with the size and look of the dogs. They pass the eye test but as soon I put another dog out, they went right after it full attack and then turn there agrression turn on my friend. I don't blame the dog just there knucklehead owners. There history dates way back and you're right they were bred to kill stray dogs on the island. After the stray dogs were cull the dogs were used to fight one another. Once fighting was banned the dog had no more use for the country that bred them. You can import them to the U.S. Just like the dogo or taso. IMO they don't have the temperament that hogdoggers need when it comes to being around packs of strange dogs, family, and friends. If you're looking for PP or guard dog work than they fit the bill. Look for them to be the next breed to be banned due to bad owners. If you walk down the street of south Miami you see what I'm talking about. Just a matter of time before there in the news in a bad way.
