One of the best dogs Ive hunted behind is a Walker/Cur gyp! She will yip a little if the hog breaks but is silent on trail and will sure nuff get gone lookin for a hog. I really like the hound cur crosses on hogs but sometimes they are a little more mouthy than a sraight cur. As long as their not wide open I dont mind LOL! JMO
I have known quite a few dogs that were considered to be open that caught lots of hogs and probably could out hunt most dogs.
I consider a open mouth dog to be every breath bawlin on trail! I dont consider yippin behind a hog after it breaks open but I guess some would. The gyp I was talkin about has put me and my pups on alot of hogs and I dont even own her and some would prolly consider her semi open!
