I have seen this same thing.  The red hogs are the most agressive from my experience.  But, that just means that are more prone to stand and fight which means they are easier to bay up.  I know that Durocs are red and are a more agressive breed of domestic hog.  So it could be that the red feral hogs which may have more influence from the Duroc breed.  Or could be that all red headed critters are just like that.  I have known some read headed women to be pretty fiesty.
