Last April my main dog has his achilles tendon cut in half.  He had it reattached and stayed at the vet for several days.  I kept him off of it until late August and he hasn't missed a beat.  The only time i can noticeably tell is on days when we've hunted several, several hours.  He will give to it some, but not bad enough that i worry about it.
