Go buy a bucket of patience. The pup is only five months old! Take a deep breath. The dog has showed you he has the right stuff. Seven more months then worry. Just go hunt with someone that has dogs you like. I would not be running a five month pup on the ground. At about eight or nine months see what they do inthe woods at about worry about the hunting style. You can only teach them so much. You are worried about your little league player going pro. If they don't love the game they won't play. Push them and they may quit.
