I went to see some blue ticks pups yesterday and the mother had 13 pups , 5 were all brown and the others were the blue tick. Has anyone every see that before??? I didn't know that they could have brown one.
John,
It is possible for a purple ribbon bluetick (UCK registered for at least 3 generations) to produce a liver colored pup. However, they are still white background with liver patches. If the pups were solid brown, she was caught by something other than a bluetick. It is completely possible that there are some pure pups in the litter, while others have a different sire. That being said, if it was me, I would elect to pass on that litter. If you need more info on the bluetick breed, please contact me. I am happy to provide you any info that I have on the breed. I am the Florida rep for the BBCHA (Bluetick Breeders and Coon Hunters Association).
Regards,
Josh
