I hunt year round in Florida.  I copied something similar from some guys in Austrailia a few years ago.  Look at boardogs.com and see some of their designs.  Also the Austrailians on here have posted some pictures of warm weather cut protection. 
Mine are made from a flat bed truck tie down strap sewn into a cut collar made of the same thing.  I had custom collars in Opp Ala. make some 1" collars that were long enough to go around a dogs chest and hold the chest protector in place.  My larger dogs have been wearing them ever since.
The catahoula sitting down (waiting on the boat) is wearing one and the red cur is wearing one under a bay vest. 

I like the Ugly dog design better and have actually emailed them about terrier size boar bibs for my Jagds.  For the Jagds I think mobility is more important than cut protection.  They wear 2" biothane collars now.  I also have cut vests for the Jagds, but seldom put them on due to heat.
