Our dogs typically range out in 700 to 900yrd loops to find a hog before returning to us to load up and drive a little further. But they will go for miles if they find a hog and it takes off. The property that we hunt is several miles across but sometimes we do have to get ahead of them and cut them off before they go somewhere they aren't supposed to be. Thank goodness for Garmin.
Our yard dog is a dog that we don't hunt because he is too short range for our style of hunting but I will keep him around in case we ever get to go hunt a small property.
