About 7 years ago I was over at a deer dog buddy of mine's house. We were looking at his dogs. He kenneled them one in each pen. He arranged them male, female, male, female, and so on. I asked him why, and he said that he did not want to deal with males fighting between the wire. Personally, I understood what he was saying, but fealt that arrangement never let his males get used to being in close proximity to other males. I have my own thoughts on living arrangements around the kennels, but that is besides the point. Anyway, I noticed one of his females was coming into season. I mentioned to him that he may want to move her, as she was between 2 males. He explained that he had had dogs for 35 years, and it was not possible to breed between chainlink. I laughed, and told him to make sure and enjoy his litter. He assured me I was wrong. I knew differently, but left it at that. 2 months later he called to apologize. He said he had left her in that pen by herself for the whole time. Sure enough she had a litter.
It won't be the last litter conceived in this manor either. Whenever people talk about placing blocks between pens, it is important to go 3 tiers for this reason alone. 2 won't help a bit. Think about your younger days. Where there is a will, there is a way.

When I was 18 I would travel 90 miles for a back massage and a home cooked meal and got a few speeding tickets getting there.

Those were the good ole days...I wouldn't do that now cause I am a married man, or is it that that burning desire isn't there like it used to be...

I had a male in a kennel then female and then another male and never had a problem but it was chain link. The main reason I did it that way is because the males would try to kill each other if it were male next to male.
