We have dealt with some parvo type illnesses at places we have lived before and it costs us some money to keep those pups alive so now twice a year we have been rototilling the yard, then we spray it with clorox and then after about a week we break out the propane torch and burn up the yard, we have decided to flag stone the back yard where the dogs are kept and hopefully just have to bleach the area every few months.
