This time of year I'll place a stall watering bucket on the wire, the kind that have the plastic hooks that go on the boards of a stall. It's hard to keep them alive for any time right now, we just lost a 300lb boar today just got to dang hot and the old boy was fighting to get out and exhausted himself. If your trap is big enough and you can haul water to it, make a mud hole in the middle just keep adding water everyday.

As far as when they get in there, like said before tie the door open then set it when you know you can check it in the morning. It's hard trapping right now and hard keeping them alive in a trap.
