Bryant i have seen what you are talking about i went to a guys kennels about 6 years ago he had about 100 dogs ,yeh thats crazy. he had a long building with an isle down the center kennels were about 5' wide about 10 pens on each side. no ouside runs this building was tight no windows, just a sliding door on each end. he had a concrete floor all the way. he had liiter after litter of pups in these pens. everyone of those pups looked real sorry, they were fat but didnt look healthy. all of those pups were coon footed(flat footed) from being on that concrete their whole life. i saw a few pups i wanted but i left with out buying anything.
Noah is right on the money. i raise all of my pups on the ground, and i let them run free range till they start causing trouble, baying cows horses etc. then i put them on chains and turn them loose one at a time with shock collar and bump them off of the cows and horses about the same time i will start them on a hog usually about 4 mo. old.
i have had a dog the vet wanted to put to sleep from a injury ( broken ribs puntured lung )brought her home turned her loose she layed around the barn in the sunshine and a couple weeks later i put her back on the chain and made a good recovery she had a weeze for the rest of her life but she lived another 5 yrs. till a hog killed her.
so sunshine is important to dogs and humans alike..
