I mixed the four best plott lines I could find when I crossed these dogs, I blended fox/cat dogs for thier intelligence, cold trailing abilities and I mixed hog and bear dogs for grit, and desire as well as the ability to shut up on a track until they see it... I believe that this has produced a really good mix of genes to catch a variety of game on different terrains. Well the genes are their, I think it takes environmental element to get the gene expressed such as running open with open and tight mouthed with tight mouthed dogs especially in a breed like the plotts that are used for hunting different types of game that have different requirements.
