When was "back then"?

Speculators carry some of the blame but supply and demand also dictate alot. Also, I am not sure why we are worried about the middle east when it comes to oil. We get the most oil from our neighbors to the north(Canada). The middle east is a drop in the bucket compared to Canada. Mexico isnt far behind the middle east.
