If you are serious about makin her a bird dog then train her a little more, then if she keeps tearing the birds up then wrap bobwire around the bird and throw and let her get it.. Trust me that will be the last time she bites on the bird!!  Grin.  It has worked for me and I'm sure it will work for u too..
