The best advise i can think of is find someone local and go hunt with them. Let them help you find a dog. I wasted a ton of money buying worthless dogs when i first got into the sport. to me buying pups is a crap shoot unless you know the parents hunt and hunt good. when buying a grown dog go hunting with it before buying. the best thing I have learned on this board is "listen with your eyes" dont believe what you are told or read. There are some good people on this board but there are also some dog peddlers who will promise you the world. Good luck
