I hunt alone probably half of the time but I don't have a catch dog just bay dogs. So I don't have to worry bout throwin a hog and getting him tied. My catch dog is a Ruger 22. long rifle and she has caught on the ear everytime. I enjoy it like others have said you can really focus on your dogs. I'll be the first to admitt it can get interesting from time to time thats why I carry my 40. on my hip just in case.
