i'm in hallettsville. he's 3 maybe 4 years old. he's got a good handle on him. i've only had a problem with him the last 3 hunts. We had a spell of dry runs for about 3 weeks. Just didn't have any hogs, no fresh sign, nothing, even the woller at one of our honey hole places didn't have any fresh sign. well, the last 3 times we went after about 4 hours of not gettin on any pigs, he chased a dang deer. this hasn't happened before, and after talking to Mr. Mason about it, i'm gonna bring him out to his place and hunt him. if we come up empty handed i'm gonna run him in his 6 acre wooded pen to at least get him on pigs again. plan on doing this for a few runs. then take him out and try again. if he runs a deer again, i ain't sellig him til i get him straightened out. i'm not gonna do that to somebody. if he tows the line again i'll hunt him for a couple more weeks to make sure he doesn't do it again. his biggest problem is the dogs got a lot of hunt in him. if you don't want a dog that rolls out after each catch, this dog is not for you. if you come into a bay and let the catch dog loose you better grab him or he's gonna be off after another hog. if you don't want a gritty dog, he's definitely not for you. he will wind off the truck, he wont bail out but he'll start whinin real bad, if you stop and drop the tailgate he'll bail out after em. i did train him not to bail out due to the fact that we drive a lot of roads that we don't have permission to hunt that has a ton of pigs, i don't wont him bailin out the back of the truck onto a place we don't have permission to hunt on.
i'll let ya know how it turns out in a week or so. i'm takin him out tonight and see if we can't get on some pigs after this little bit of moisture we got.
