It is impressive that you seem to have taken your education as seriously as you have, it is also fortunate that you have been able to travel and experience other cultures. It is true that we as Americans are very fortunate to be in America and yes we do take a lot of our freedoms for granted.
Change also is a good thing, at times. Not always, yes this country has made progress in leaps and bounds while in the same stride have gone just as far backwards. When animals and criminals have rights that are similar to law abiding citizens, when "nature" is becoming more protected than people something is out of balance.
Public schools at all levels are influenced by government, government is influenced by money, and those with the most money want their ideas and standards pushed to the forefront so that they can profit the most.
You do make some valid points, the problem is that you admittedly do not believe in absolutes "I'm on the side of whoever I'm comfortable with" , this country was founded with biblical principles therefore it was founded on absolutes.  When people with no absolutes and a relativistic mindset started gaining power in the government this country started a steady decline.( yes it is still the greatest country in the world in my opinion) but it does need people to step up and take an active role to make the progress that we have made seem like true progress.
I'm not as smart as you are, or as well educated, or apparently as wealthy. But I've learned as much as I could in school and now that I'm out of school I receive an even greater education from the people I talk to, difficulties in business, time hunting behind dogs or a rifle, in church, in books, with my wife and kids.
I do like these boards and the variety of opinions and the ability to state mine. What bugs me is when a person no matter how old or young comes in and starts talking with the kind of arrogance and pride that has been evident in all of your posts in this thread.

Very well said!
