ANY  terrier including rat russel fox fiest etc will rig and hunt hogs and have been doing it as long as the hogs have been around, there are lots of people who train there terriers to hood hunt, road in the front of the truck or the 4 wheeler and road hunt, lots of old time bear hunters kept a fiest or terrier around to give a bear a dickens in thick heavy cover where big hounds will make a bear or hog run off, i have seen it time after time with my terriers, a large hog will try to run them down and kill them and they just disapear in the cactus or bursh and reaapear to harrass the sow or boar, soon as i dumped in big noisy hounds and biting blackmouth curs they would break to try to escape, terriers are very smart, dead game and have more grit than sense and usually are never hunted in numbers to prevent them from being slaughtered by a hog when they get to catchy, i hunted them in packs of 10 to 20 for years and just enjoyed myself, dont ever bet against the smaller dogs, many of todays breeds were at one time  crossed into or borrowed to increase gaminess into breeds not known for it, many many curs hounds collies are not as  gamey as compared to most game bred hunting terriers, they are not superdogs and of course have there faults vs some other breeds, it boils down to what u enjoy hunting, but dont bet against them as a rule u mite be convinced or lightened in the wallet!!lol
