kinda like my granpa asked me one time when i was a teenager (can't remember how or why it came up)..."have you ever got an a$$ whoppin you didn't deserve?" (and while i sat there thinking, like a know it all teenager)...he said, "...and before you answer that, was there any that you missed that you know you deserved?"
