After already firing shots at officers there is no telling what this guy was willing to do. The dog being put on bite may not have been the best thing for the other LEOs but it was probably necessary. The fact is shots were fired and this scumbag had his hands under his body, which is a damn good place to conceal a gun, and wouldn't place them behind his back or even at his side. The dog was/is just another tool used to gain compliance and in this situation seemed to work pretty well.
