To treat a dog with heartworms or one you are not sure about start the first month with a quarter of the weight dosage. The next month go to a half dose, then the third month 3/4 dose and the 4th month give the full dose. This will treat the heartworms by killing them off alittle at a time. Giving a full dose to a dog that has heartworms will kill all the worms at once causing blockages in the arteries and can kill your dog. We use the pig or cow liquid ivomectrin. Just dose according the weight and give orally.
