My buddy Tom and I shot over dogs for years we never even owned a catch dog.  We always ran 3 to 5 dogs you just have to pick your shots and be damn good with a gun.  A lot of dogs will be gun shy so it is best to rasie them from young.  All Tom has is Lacy dogs and there is no telling how many hogs this man shot over those dogs in his time.  I got a Lacy gyp that dearly loves guns when  you shoot she will be looking for the bullit to hit .  Our dogs knew what was coming when we got there and when we walked in they would loosen up give us room to shoot but that takes a lot of time and a lot of shooting over dogs for them to do that .  The instance the gun sounded they were like Hoover Vac's and just sucked in on the hog so you better not miss.  I ran cur dogs cur hound crosses myself with my one lacy gyp Bell.  If I was you I would look into a couple good bred Lacys they do not tend to be gun shy at all and are very smart dogs easy to train when it comes to shooting over dogs.
