3 or 4 months I'll show em a hog if they bay they will start goin for walks during the day in a controlled area where I know there arent hogs the 7 or 8 months I'll show em another hog if they bay pretty good it's all woods from there on out!
This is just opinion of mine but if you put a dog in a bay pen to much I think you cuttin the dogs desire to hunt down drastically every dog that I have started like this are longer range dogs. The first female I started on hogs would work a hog over in a bay pen so everytime I'd get another dog that I wanted to try out I'd throw it in the pen with this female after she had been in the bay pen so many times she will not hunt a lick she's lazy she will stick around me until another dog strikes and she will go to bay. What I'm trying to say is don't over due the bay pen thing unless you want a bay pen dog.
