global economy is fine...but the big problem is that most of the other countries don't pay their employees much and are not as regulated as we are here...so how do we compete against that? Chemical companies pay billions each year to meet US government regulations...
We voted those people in that made those rules. It is no ones fault but our own.
What is messed up about the O&G deal is the O&G companies don't set their price but every one points their finger at them. All they can do is choose to regulate how much they chose to sell at a certain price. They go thru all the risk to provide a product. When... if... that product makes it to market they take bids on it... then sell it. They are at the mercy of the market at the time their product is finished. No different than cattle or crops or any thing else really. We have all seen how fast that can change also.
The problem with oil and gas is there are all these influences between the O&G companies and the consumer. There are govt regulations, speculators, refiners, threats from the middle east, gas stations, ect... That is where the problem comes in. Not the O&G company itself... they are just along for the ride like you and I.
For as conservative as most people want to claim they are.... when it comes to gas prices they fall right into the liberal push to blame O&G companies.... blame big business.
If you owned a resturant and I walked in and said.... you need to lower your prices and only sell to low income people... Would you like that? If I said you can only sell your cattle to local feed lots even if the ones up north pay more... Would you like that? Oil should be able to be sold to the market it chooses also.
