i had the pleasure of meeting cowboy williams about 7 or 8 years ago at uncle earls, thats back when that gal was running around with him writing down some of the stories he was telling.
she wrote a book(Chasing rivers, trains, and Jesse James) about jessie james and cowboy williams was mentioned in the book quite a few times.
every time i met up with cowboy williams i could plan on spending about 3 or 4 hours listening to and swaping stories with him , me and him hit it of the first time we met, and i considered him as a true friend.
he wrote me a few letters over the years keeping me up to date and telling me a new story.
he invited me to come stay with him in every letter, and man i wish i had.
the last letter i sent out to him i didnt get a response and i figured something must have happened.
i started trying to track him down and couldnt find out anything.
thats one funeral i wish i could have made .
as some of the others have said, there was and will only be one Cowboy Williams!
here is a picture i pulled from bayed solid archives.
