Don't worry about dogs being too rough. Some people hunt bay dogs and some people hunt rough. I understand you asking about different breedings. If you have dealt with game bred dogs for 30 years you understand that some breedings "click" and others don't. Certain breeds and crosses tend to produce a higher percentage of hog dogs but like with pits, some are "pit"bulls and the rest are just bulldogs. Pit crossed with most breeds will produce a rough dog. Don't let people tell you a dog is too rough. It all depends on what you want. Most of the fellas on here are hunting large ranches and need dogs that get out and go yonder and bay. I myself and concentrating on very rough or straight catch dogs as I hunt smaller properties. As with pits, every breeding is a gamble that can turn into an expensive gamble when it doesn't work out.
