I feed at night, when we run in the morning we add electrolyte mix to thier water, before the hunt and sometimes when we break for a bit but never do we feed before as I am not going to have thier stomachs flip and twist, its an issue that can be prevented.

never has happened to my dogs...but it can happen, more common in large dogs, especially those with a big chest...another name for twisted gut is bloat...usually happens when the dog overeats right after a hard work out...
