my youngest kid graduated from school over 12 years ago and still one of the largest portions of taxes my wife and I pay are school taxes...bought a second had truck yesterday and I paid taxes on the blue book vallue and not on what I actually paid for the truck...this truck has been sold 3 times and taxes have been paid 3 times...the government has been the one making the money on this deal...

Dang.. Are you in TX?  Here we pay tax on a vehicle, but only on what we pay for it.

fairly new texas law...if you pay 5000 dollars on a truck but according to the book it is worth 10000 dollars then you pay taxes on the 10000 dollars...if the truck is damaged considerably then a mechanic needs to check it and he has  some sort of input as to what the truck is worth...but that is what I was told...
